Associate Development : Enriching our People
A Culture Built on Strengths
The Interface culture is built on a belief that associates who are encouraged to take full advantage of their inherent strengths will be more satisfied, more engaged and more productive in their work. This is the Gallup
® Strengths-Based Organization model and it is embraced across all levels of the Interface organization. In a Strengths-Based Organization, associates use the Gallup Strengths Finder to identify their talents. For some associates, the results can be slightly surprising as untapped abilities are highlighted. The survey results give managers, Certified Strengths Coaches and the associate a starting point and common language from which to build a plan to develop talents into true strengths. For some Interface associates, this has meant a change in what they focus on in their work or even expanded responsibilities. For others, it has meant a new way of approaching the work they currently undertake. In all, the Gallup Strengths-Based Organization model is designed to set up associates for greater success and satisfaction while providing Interface with the benefits of a more productive workforce.

Fostering Collaboration
Associate education became a focal point. We want our associates to have the knowledge and skills they need to meet the ever-changing demands of not only their workplace, but their world.
- “Play to Win” exercises and training taught an initial group of associates from across the business to look to our sustainable strategy as a challenge, not a threat, and encouraged them to change their thinking and behavior to foster individual and collective success.
- Interface rolled out the lessons of “Play to Win” training to every Interface associate and created the momentum to change the entire organization.
- Environmental management certifications, QUEST and EcoSense program training help associates discover what sustainability means to Interface and how they can be a part of making it happen.
